Empire Announces Pre-Production on $10-million Slate of New Film Projects
- Empire Film Group, Inc. (Other OTC:EFGU.PK - News) (http://www.empirefilmgroup.com) has announced a slate of new feature film projects to begin pre-production over the next twelve months. The new films will be funded primarily through co-production ventures, presales and off-balance sheets financing sources, and will collectively add another $10-million to the existing production slate for Empire projects. The three projects announced by Empire include 'Gotch: An American Hero', 'Lowell Park' and 'Sue'. The period piece 'Gotch' tells the story of one of America's most famous turn-of-the-century athletes, Frank Gotch, who held the world professional wrestling title during most of his career spanning 1906 - 1914. Time-travel fantasy 'Lowell Park' is the story of one girl's lifelong dream to travel back in time and meet a young Ronald Reagan as he was growing up in Dixon, Illinois. 'Lowell Park' is based on the novel by Mike Chapman. The classic western 'Sue' is a rousing, shoot-em-up saga of unforgivable betrayal, savage retribution and bittersweet redemption set in the late 1800's. Each of these new feature projects will be filmed in states which provide subsidies and tax credits which will be utilized by the company as part of its production financing. All of the films will be distributed to theaters, television and video by Empire Home Entertainment, the distribution division of Empire Film Group. 'We have pushed these projects through the development stages and feel that these projects will best fit our production and distribution plans for the coming year,' said Empire CEO Dean Hamilton-Bornstein. The total value of Empire's production slate for the last half of 2008 and the first half of 2009 exceeds $30-million and spans a total of nine new productions. Most of the original productions from Empire Film Group will be distributed in North America by Empire, with international rights licensed to key production partners such as Industry-Works Entertainment. Empire is vertically integrated with most of its film production needs, owning and operating motion picture trucks, cameras, grip and electrical equipment, post-production editing and operating its own sound stage. Orange You Glad He's Back? Everyone's Favorite Cat...
- Hold onto your lasagna! Everyone's favorite morning-loathing, Odie-taunting, tart-tongued tabby is back for a slew of hilarious new antics in Garfield's Fun Fest, his newest full-length computer animated feature film, coming to DVD Aug. 5 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. Written by creator Jim Davis -- Garfield, Odie, Jon, Arlene and the rest of the gang - yes, Nermal, too - are gearing up for the town's annual talent show, Fun Fest. Having won every year, Garfield is convinced he can't loose, especially with his long-time sidekick Arlene in tow. But when Arlene steps out with another partner, Garfield - not one for solo performances - sets out with Odie on a quest to regain his lost humor mojo and get the funny back before show time. {InsertImage} Now celebrating his 30th Anniversary, Garfield is one of the most beloved and enduring icons with the most widely syndicated comic strips in the world - 263 million readers and counting - and more than nine million DVDs sold to date. Garfield's Fun Fest, for ages 6-12, includes an exclusive comic booklet by Jim Davis, DVD-ROM games 'Destination Fun Fest' and 'Tango Toss' and more, and will be available for the suggested retail price of $19.98 U.S. / $21.98 Canada. Pre-book is July 9. Additional information on Garfield's Fun Fest can also be found at . Presented by Paws, Incorporated and in association with The Animation Picture Company/Davis Entertainment, Garfield's Fun Fest, like its successful predecessor Garfield Gets Real (now available on DVD) was executively produced and written by Garfield creator Jim Davis, directed by Mark A.Z. Dippe, co-directed by Kyung Ho Lee and produced by John Davis and Brian Manis. Garfield's Fun Fest is a Paws, Incorporated Production in association with Wonderworld Studios. SYNOPSIS: Garfield, long-running champion of the Fun Fest talent show, believes he can't lose. Problem is, his sidekick (and girlfriend) Arlene wants to change the act. When Garfield refuses, Arlene hooks up with a suave, narcissistic newcomer, Ramon, for a show-stopping Tango. Not one for solo performances, Garfield loses his humor mojo! With hours ticking away till showtime, Garfield, with pal Odie in tow, sets out to find the Holy Grail of Guffaws -- the magic pond of funny water within the Mystical Forest he read about in a fairy tale storybook. On a journey filled with riddles, jokes, quirky characters and a comedy guru (Freddy the Frog, the very first funnyanything!), can Garfield learn the lessons of true comedy and make it back in time to capture first prize and win Arlene back?
